Project Role : As Senior Project Manager & Designer, I guided this project from concept to completion. Since it was based in Iran, all dimensions were detailed in millimeters.
My Focus : I shaped the concept and design development, prepared permit-ready drawing sets, and worked hand-in-hand with architects, engineers, and consultants to keep the design vision intact. From custom millwork to curated materials, lighting, and furniture, every detail was aligned with brand identity and budget.

As we continue discussions with the city regarding the removal of the patio, we are exploring the possibility of utilizing the entire footprint of the building for residential units. Since there are three openings around the structure that provide the required natural light and ventilation, this approach aligns with U.S. code while reflecting differences from Iranian regulations.
Based on this potential adjustment, I have planned a layout with three bedrooms and two and a half baths. The design prioritizes functionality and efficient use of space, ensuring that the living areas are practical and comfortable for everyday life. Because the project is intended for sale in a residential zone, the focus is on maximizing livable area and creating a straightforward, user-friendly plan. In this case, functionality takes precedence over aesthetic detailing, with the primary goal being to provide a well-organized and highly usable home.

Project Narrative
This project showcases a mid-rise residential building in Tehran, where each design decision was guided by local zoning codes, site conditions, and urban context. The site sits along an angled street, which influenced circulation, access points, and the overall geometry of the building.
On the ground level, I organized five parking stalls—one for each unit—in alignment with Tehran’s zoning requirements. Unlike U.S.-CA standards, which often demand additional spaces, local codes here allow a leaner solution. Cars approach the garage from three different directions due to the slope and street orientation, a challenge that shaped the entry sequence. To balance privacy with openness, I created a foyer that buffers pedestrian entry from vehicular circulation, ensuring safety and layered spatial experiences.
At Level -1, I introduced amenities and code-compliant storage rooms for each unit, as required by Tehran’s specific zoning regulations. A compact gym and mechanical room were also integrated to maximize resident comfort without sacrificing efficiency.
Levels 1–5 host the typical residential units, where daylight, cross-ventilation, and compact circulation drive the planning strategy. Each floor opens around a central patio, which acts as both a lightwell and a private outdoor retreat. By reducing the stair frame footprint (a flexibility permitted by local codes), more usable space was dedicated to living areas, enhancing comfort and functionality.
Through these layers of design, the project reflects how local codes, site geometry, and urban context can be transformed into opportunities for creative architectural solutions. The result is a compact yet efficient building that balances regulation with design quality, privacy with openness, and urban density with livable space.
