In my belief, designing a kiosk is like creating a miniature version of a full store, especially when you're tasked with upgrading an existing structure while incorporating your own ideas and adhering to mall regulations. It becomes even more intricate when you want to include a separate VIP space, accessible to both a staff member and a single customer. At the same time, the design must allow the person working inside to maintain a clear view of the outside, ensuring they can engage with other customers as well.
For this project, I was given an existing kiosk located in Destin Commons mall, FL. The attached photos provide a reference to better understand the kiosk’s position within the mall. To grasp the full context, I spent a significant amount of time using Google Earth and virtually walking around the mall to study its layout and surroundings.
Since Bee & Co. typically operates larger stores rather than kiosks, I aimed to translate the store’s concept into a compact, kiosk-sized format, all while ensuring compliance with the mall’s regulations. This was a unique challenge, but one I embraced to bring the brand's essence into a smaller space.
Before finalizing the design that was ultimately approved by the client, I had to experiment with and test several elements. This process involved exploring various concepts, materials, and layouts to ensure the design not only met the client’s expectations but also adhered to the constraints and requirements of the project.

FINAL DESIGN
IIn this design, I incorporated glass around the kiosk to create a sense of privacy for the VIP space while still allowing the employee to have a clear line of sight to the outside. I utilized the approved Bee & Co. color, Sherwin-Williams SW 9094 Playa Arenosa, for the exterior, ensuring that the panels are durable enough to withstand Florida's climate. Additionally, I integrated wood grain and wood panels, which are signature elements of Bee & Co. stores, to maintain the brand’s aesthetic within this compact space.
